the glass is half full

i’ve started the walls! the builder is brilliant and today i got my car back which makes life a whole lot easier

first they measured the rectangle properly with a giant set square. then they cut 4 stones to be the corners. the saw that cuts the rock is amazing, it just slides through the stone. working with stone is a beautiful process. they laid the four corner stones with mortar, set four vertical poles perfectly in place with a level and some special quick dry stuff called gyspy. (? according to their english). the next step was laying some more smoothly sawed and chiseled stones to mark the doorways. After this they went much more quickly  along the base of the walls putting good faces outwards and shaping the rocks with a hammer. photos as soon as i find my mobile.
